How do I get access?
Access is granted based on an email address provided on the Waiver and User Access Form, you will control the username and password associated with your Google account. These were communicated to the Primary Account contacts for each Organization. If you feel you should have received this but have not, please contact your Account Manager. Please ensure you do not have CivicPlus emails blocked so you may continue to receive important updates.
Can we add more than one user?
At this time, we are allowing one user to be added to each account. We will continue to evaluate the need for more users to be added to an account. To help get others the information they may need, reports can be set up to be automatically delivered via email to other recipients.
How do I update or change the user account?
Please contact Support to make the change for you.
How do I log in?
From Modules > Site Tools > Google Analytics.
You will be taken to the Google Analytics Main page. You will need to verify the profile which you are using for your browser. If it is not the same account that has access to your Google Analytics, you will not see any data. You may need to log in to a different account or simply use an incognito browser and log in that way.
What level of access will we be given?
All users will be given Analyst access permissions.
If I already have access to Universal Analytics through CivicPlus, what do I need to do?
There is nothing you need to do; we will grant the same users access to Google Analytics 4.
How do I move between my Universal, GA4, or my own analytics?
If you are using the same email address/account, you may toggle between them by using the dropdown arrow at the top of the analytics screen. You will see all accounts that the user has access to.
How do I know if I am looking at Universal Analytics(UA) or Google Analytics 4(GA4)?
The different analytics properties are in different environments. The Universal Analytics will be under CivicEngage AtoH, CivicEngage ItoM, CivicEngage NtoS or CivicEngage TtoZ depending on your State.
Google Analytics 4 allowed us to put everyone under one account simply labeled CivicPlus.
You may also see something similar to this and can also distinguish between the two as well.
UA will show something similar to “AtoH” depending on your State and the tracking ID will begin with UA.
GA4 will be a 3-digit number like 097 and will show a number similar to 328361691 specific to your site tracking ID.
Will training be offered?
Yes, we will be recording short tutorials that will be located in the Help Center.
Will the search console be a part of this?
We will not be configuring the search console. You would need to set up your own analytics account if you are interested in using the search console. You may contact our Support department to add the script to your website.
Will search terms be tracked?
Yes. Don’t forget you also have a Search module within the website that tracks these as well.
Can I collect other website or mobile app data in GA4?
Currently, we are not adding additional data streams to any accounts. The CivicPlus Mobile app does not collect data for Google Analytics. If you have multiple websites you would like to consolidate to one Google Analytics account, you would need to set up your own analytics account. You may contact our Support department to add the script to your website.
Where can I get my CivicPlus Mobile App data?
Basic App information can be viewed in your Apple Developer account. Your Customer Success Manager can access Google information and provide it to you.
Are we able to provide our own Google Analytics account information, or do we have to use one set up by CivicPlus?
If you currently use Google Analytics, you will not be affected. If you would like to set up your own Google Analytics account, you can do that as well and contact support to put that tracking code on your site.
I already have a Google account set up for accessing our current Google Analytics. Does it make sense to use this email for our CivicPlus Google analytics?
Yes, it does make sense to use this same email. It would allow you to toggle back and forth between the two accounts without having to log in with a separate account for each.
What if we currently use our own Google Analytics, will CivicPlus be able to see that data?
No, unless you have granted your account manager access to view, we do not have access to your accounts.
Can we track document downloads?
Yes, your Google Analytics account is set up to track document downloads.
Can we filter internal traffic?
In order to restrict Personal Identifiable Information (PII) data being passed to Google Analytics, CivicPlus has anonymized the IP addresses being collected by Google Analytics.
When IP addresses are anonymized, we are no longer able to make use of IP filters to exclude sessions such as those sessions from within your own company or from CivicPlus staff.
When you create new pages will the tracking automatically be added?
When creating new pages, they will automatically be tracked as part of your site. If you have custom reports set up for specific sections or departments on your site(formerly known as segments), you may need to add them to that group.
How long will we have access to Universal Analytics data?
(From Google) Until July 1, 2023, you can continue to use and collect new data in your Universal Analytics properties.
After July 1, 2023, you'll be able to access your previously processed data in your Universal Analytics property for at least six months. We know your data is important to you, and we strongly encourage you to export your historical reports during this time.
In the coming months, we'll provide a future date for when existing Universal Analytics properties will no longer be available. After this future date, you'll no longer be able to see your Universal Analytics reports in the Analytics interface.
What is Looker Studio?
Looker Studio is a free tool that turns your data into informative, easy-to-read, easy-to-share, and fully customizable dashboards and reports.
What type of information is being collected?
We do not collect any PII, including IP addresses. We have no way of associating any data collected by Google Analytics with a user.
