Sections in the reports may appear broken as the sample data from the Google Analytics demo account does not contain all the data CivicPlus provides. Once your site data is connected to the report you should see all the tables populate accordingly as your site contains the specific data. Tables may be deleted or the data changed to fit your site. Please note the initial load of these reports when clicking on the links.
Watch how to use these reports with your own site data, and read an explanation of the different reports.

Department and Page Section Pageviews contain a page for department headers pageviews and a page for page section pageviews. This report allows filtering by a Department Header Name, or Page Section Tracker Name on the respective pages, and setting a date range.
Note: Due to Google Analytics 4's information reporting structure, using these filters requires we view the pageview event by event count and not the basic pageview. - Add a Data Source to make sure that the correct analytics are being checked.
You can copy any of these reports, use the built-in filters on those that have them for Department Headers or Page Sections, and save them for continued reporting on these specific portions of your website.
If you copy a template for the first time, you may need to add your site as a Data Source.

I'm still looking for the report that will allow us to filter data by Department Header/section tracking. This appeared to be feasible with the 'Content Pageviews' report. But when I made a copy of that report for my use, the filter for 'Department Header' and 'Section Tracking' goes away and is replaced with 'Day' and 'Event Name.' Do you have any info on how to build/locate the filter for Department Header Package sections? Trying to accomplish this task has become quite tiring.
I'm having the same problem. I don't know how to change the Control Box info back to Department Header Name and Page Section Tracker Name.
Can someone help? Aug. 1 is coming.

Thank you for calling this to our attention. We have created a new article and linked it above.

Jamie: The update the controls on your report article does not work. I do not have the parameter "Department Header" as shown in your example.
Clearly you have it built in your report, but it's not coming over to my report. How can we fix this?
Thank you for your prompt response to this.
Angie Kilbourne We will look into this and reach out directly to you. Thank you.
Jamie Shannon: Would you look into it for me as well? Because I also do not have the 'Department Header Name' nor the 'Department Header ID' as a Control field option.
Hello. We also do not have the 'Department Header Name' or the 'Department Header ID' as a Control field option. So it seems it's not yet possible for us to do reports for departments.
Something I haven't seen explained anywhere by CivicPlus is why we are now using Looker Studio to run reports instead of doing so directly in Google Analytics like we were able to do previously. From what I understand, we would need Editor level permissions on our GA accounts to be able to make custom reports directly in GA. Why isn't CivicPlus giving us that level of permissions?
Jamie: Can you explain why these reports are not set up for pageviews? Especially the one for the department header/sections. When I add in that value to the table, all pages show zero pageviews.
Robert Taylor I have forwarded this on to your customer success manager as it appears everything is setup correctly in your account.
We are unable to provide a higher access as there are many settings that can be changed that would effect or even stop the collection of data. If you would like higher permissions, you are able to setup your own analytics instance and have our Support team add that code to your site.
Thank you.
Angie Kilbourne Great question. The reports with filters for Department Headers and page sections are not setup for pageviews because the way GA4 is collecting and sending the data for the custom dimensions we have created does not appear to include pageviews.
While we do not know the reason behind this, we are working with our developers to determine if we are able to program something to capture and send this data to GA4 for use in Looker Studio.
I believe I have found the way to get your pageviews set up by department. Using the LookerStudio template for page views, I then created a filter for the department.
Using the Regex I had previously set up in Universal Analytics, I copied all of that, and pasted it into the filter, using the setup shown in the screenshot. It appears to be working flawlessly!
The scheduling is a bit wonky but I will wait until the first of Sept to schedule out. For now, I will just get my people their july reports that they are missing.
Update - 8/16 - I'm still not sure why I'm getting the invalid configuration message. Anyone else getting this? I can provide more details/screenshots or even give access to our report. Thanks!
Hi All. Can anyone provide validation on the function of the Page Section feature in these reports? For example, on default all page section names are checked, and data shows in the widget such as the Content Report. However, if I uncheck all and only select one of the items, I get a configuration error. This is happening now on all of the reports that I copied off of the templates created by CP. I haven't changed anything in the config/properties of the widgets except make sure the data source is accurate. Anyone else having this issue? I contacted support but they directed me to my success manage. My users want to be able to filter on just their info. I can create a content table per each page section name/id but just want to understand how what is expected behavior of the template reports. Thanks.
Best,
Sheri
Sheri: Are you using your own GA4 setup or the one CivicPlus set up for you? That may be the problem. Jamie Shannon
Hi There. I'm using the one CivicPlus set up for us. Thanks!
On another note, but maybe this is causing the issue. I'm not seeing anything in our Department Header Name control box. We setup section tracking on the department header home pages is that why? Don't see any value either within the main site properties but do see the section names and ids.
Sheri Ouellette If you have marked your pages as sections, you will need to use the Page Section tracking filters.
These filters are specific to the box that is checked on the page.
Thanks Jamie. We have this setup correctly.
I see you added a Page Section template. Are the previous template links on this page the same from about a month ago or have they changed? I based all of my initial reports on these and wondered if any of these have been updated which would require us to redo previous reports based on an earlier template version. Best, Sheri.

Hi Angie. Thanks for providing the information for listing specific pages by department similar to the UA views functionality. Have you tried to do the same for specific documents in the download center? Best, Sheri.
Sheri Ouellette
I have not built out reports on document downloads - yet. I will need to provide end-of-year reports on some downloads to people, but I've been working to get every department covered right now.
Angie Chabot
Ok. Thanks. Good luck!
Hi Jamie! I'm checking back in to find out if there's a resolution for the issue with pageviews showing '0' for the DHP/Page Section report. :)
Jamie Shannon
Hi Jamie, Our users aren't able to pull up or track module content - items that URLs are created with appending ?+ values. Are you aware of this? This is in both the main GA4 account and within the LookerStudio templates.
Thanks,
Sheri
Hi! I have a question about the News Flash analytics.
Trying to build a report of specific news flash items (AID) and I can't seem to get it right. I've tried using an additional filter for page path, with the items listed. Also "Contains" with just the numbers ... nothing is working.
Is there a way to set up a News Flash report for specific news flash items?
