You can now direct News Flash and Alert Center items, including item title, image and "Read On..." links in widgets, module screens, RSS, and notifications to point to any web address on your site or external web address without users first having to visit the News Flash or Alert Center item.
In the News Flash and Alert Center modules, the Link fields for web addresses have been moved directly beneath the Title for easy access when creating items that direct to another page or external web address, such as the latest COVID or election information.
To direct all links for that item to your preferred URL, enter the desired Web Address and check the box for "Link item, image, read on, RSS and notification to this Web Address."
This link will replace the News Flash or Alert Center link in:
- Email Read on, and item links
- SMS link
- RSS
- Widget item titles, images, and Read on
- Module item titles, images, and Read on
- Alert Bar Read on...
This checkbox is now default checked for all new items. If the field is blank, item links will be unchanged. For items that include a Web Address that should not be redirected, the checkbox will need to be unchecked.
Important Note
This feature is now consistent in News Flash and Alert Center, so the previous News Flash widget option has been removed. Existing News Flash widgets that were set to Link Read On to Web Address from the Widget Options will no longer have that checkbox or direct items with a Web Address to those links. To redirect those links, modify the existing items, check this option, and save.
