Add a Data Source in Looker Studio

While copying a report template in Looker Studio for the first time your site may not appear as a Dat Source option. In this case, you may need to add your website as a new Data Source.

 

Important Note

Please note that the pre-built templates were designed for CivicPlus Google Analytics 4. Attempting to use a different property such as one owned by your organization may work but also may result in broken tables due to additional information being provided within the CivicPlus properties.

 

Instructions

  1. When viewing the Looker Studio template select the three-dot action menu, and then Make a Copy
    The three horizontal dots icon at the top of the screen, to the right of the Edit button, followed by the Make a copy option in the drop down menu.
  2. In the copy this report window click into the Search field under the New Data Source header, and select the Create data source button if your site is not listed

  3. On the next screen select the Google Analytics option.

  4. Select the CivicPlus Google Analytics account, the correct account, and click the Connect button

    Note: Remember, the accounts start with a 3-digit number and are listed as ST-City-Central.
  5. Click the Add to Report button.
    The blue Add to Report button in the top right corner, to the right of the Cancel button.
  6. Find and select your site in the New Data Source dropdown
    The site in the Available data sources section of the Search dropdown, under the New Data Source heading.
  7. Click the Copy Report button
    The blue Copy Report button in the bottom right, to the right of the Cancel button.
  8. View the report with your site data
    An example of a website overview report is open with two pie charts, one representing the methods by which users access the website and what browsers they prefer.
