A frequent cause for confusion is the distinction between News Flash and Archive Center. This article will highlight the purpose and features of each item.
Archive Center
Purpose
A file repository that houses data-sensitive documents that must be organized and displayed chronologically.
Features
- Documents found in Archive Center:
- Annual Reports
- Budgets
- Agendas and Minutes (Agenda Center is more optimal for these types of documents.)
- Newsletters
- Other documents you want to display current and past versions of
- Archive Center automatically publishes all Saved items, regardless of Published or Not Published status.
News Flash
Purpose
A module to have as many news flashes as you need. Each of the news flashes can 'live' on as many pages as it needs to, but will filter back into the main News Flash module page. Each news flash can give web users the option to sign up for notifications or changes (this option is turned on by default but can be turned off per news flash) using RSS feeds or email and/or text messages through the Notify Me module.
Features
- Informs residents and users of what is happening in and around your city, town, county, or school district
- Provides press releases and emergency notices in a format that is quickly noticed and easy to read
- Links to documents that are relevant to the News Flash such as applications, forms, and flyers/brochures
