This enhancement is part of the December 11, 2021 release.
On December 11, 2021, CivicEngage Central sites currently using CivicPlus Platform single sign-on will be moving to an enhanced sign-on experience. This enhancement provides additional security, as well as improved performance and reliability for the CivicPlus sign-on and authentication experience.
Existing back-end and front-end users will use the same email address and password as prior to this enhancement.
All users will also be able to use the new external social sign-in options directly through the Platform for Apple, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft to create new users or add social sign-on to existing accounts. The Microsoft option is only supported for Microsoft’s non-Active Directory accounts.
Custom Identity Provider (IdP) Integration Impact
Customers with existing third-party identity provider integrations using CivicEngage Central’s legacy LDAP/SAML setup per site will see no changes. To confirm if a site is not on the Platform, visit the primary domain with /admin?saml=off (e.g. https://cp-civicplace22.civicplus.com/Admin?saml=off) and the below screen will appear for non-Platform sites.
CivicEngage Central sites on the CivicPlus Platform with an existing Custom IdP integration will remain on the previous sign-in UI through the end of the year and should be contacted to prepare for the transition.
To confirm that custom identity provider integration is working for new sign-in, visit https://cpauthentication.civicplus.com/Identity/Account/Login and enter the ADFS, Azure AD, or Okta email address to be automatically redirected to the external identity provider. If redirected back to Manage Account, the new sign-in is working. If an error is displayed, please contact CivicPlus Technical Support for troubleshooting.
Phased Release
Note that we will be phasing our release of this feature for our various CivicPlus products over the next several months to ensure minimal impact for our local government customers and citizens. In the meantime, if you use more than one CivicPlus product, you might experience two different sign-on experiences and will possibly be required to sign in more than once with the same email address and password. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.
