Events in Google Analytics are user interactions on your website that cannot be tracked as pageviews within a session.
Instructions
- Navigate to Behavior, then select Events
- Choose from Overview, Top Events, Pages, or Events Flow to change to that view.
- Overview: The Overview will show you the Total Events for your site.

Top Events: This will break down the Events by category.
- Click any of the Actions in the Event Category to see all the Event Actions

Pages: This is the view of the pages which have triggered events.
- Clicking on any of the URLs will show you the breakdown of events for that page.
- You can also then click on the Event Category Actions to drill further into those events.
- Clicking on any of the URLs will show you the breakdown of events for that page.
- Events Flow: Use the Events Flow report to visualize the order in which users trigger the Events on your site. The Events Flow report can help you discover which Event content keeps users engaged with your site and see the paths users take from one popular Event to the next.

Why does no data show for events when I follow these instructions?
Susan,
There could be a number of reasons. Are you able to see any other data? Are you the authorized user for the Google Analytics account? A request submitted by your organization would have specified the user and email address to access this information. If that is you, be sure you are logging with that email address, your browser may be trying to log you in with another email address/account.
If you are unsure if the access request was submitted for you or a different user to have access, you may want to verify that with a System Administrator on your website. If you still have questions, please reach out to Client Support or your Account Manager.
