- Navigate to Custom Reports
- Click +New Custom Report
- Title your Report to differentiate each Report
- Add the metrics you'd like to track
- Add the Dimension
Note: The dimension Page indicates the URL of a page that is viewed. Page Title is the title used on your site.
- Add a Filter to the page
Note: Your filter should be set up to include the Page Regex of PageNumber#|PageNumber#|PageNumber#
-
The | creates an OR match. Do not use at the end of an expression
-
Example: 3816|3817|3833|3799|3798|3802|3824
- If page numbers are present inside other numbers (2-digit page #'s), you may need to change the formula just a bit to include more of the URL
- Example:/47/Building|/303/Residents|577|627|791|1110|1112|1113
- You may include as many Page Numbers as you would like
-
-
Excluding Pages will also help filter down to the correct Pages in the Report
Note: The | creates an OR match. Do not use it at the end of an expression
-
Example: /activities|/Archives|/ArchiveCenter|/AgendaCenter|/blog|/calendar|/civicalerts|/custom404|/directory|/DocumentCenter|/facilities|/FAQ|/FormCenter|/gallery|/jobs|/list|/myaccount|/search|fbclid|msclkid|embedded
- If you find other pages you'd like to exclude, you can edit the report to add additional items by adding a bar| at the end of the list and then adding to it, separating each one with a bar|
-
Example: /activities|/Archives|/ArchiveCenter|/AgendaCenter|/blog|/calendar|/civicalerts|/custom404|/directory|/DocumentCenter|/facilities|/FAQ|/FormCenter|/gallery|/jobs|/list|/myaccount|/search|fbclid|msclkid|embedded
- Click Save and the report will run
- View the report

Thanks, Jamie! This is super helpful. I've done a quick trial using the same settings you outline here for our Elections Office pages. Looks like I'm getting some results that aren't specifically in the Regex formula. In my Regex list, I have page /244, but the report is also catching /2441, /2443 and /2444. I'm assuming it's because they include /244.
Do you know of a way to force the report to grab the specific number as opposed to having it grab any number that includes the one in the formula? Or, alternately, do you happen to know if there's a semantic way I could note the page in the Regex that would prevent similar pages from being caught (like #244 or 244# or /244/ or something)?
thanks again for your help on all of the GA stuff. It's really beneficial!
As a follow up, it's certainly possible to add a filter and exclude a Regex string as well, and that may be what we have to do. But if there's a less manually-intensive way to do it, I'd love that!
Jason, thank you for the feedback. We did revise this a bit and hope it can be more helpful with the additional information.
