You may notice when accessing your CivicPlus managed Google Analytics Property for your CivicEngage website that Google has announced the End-of-Life (EOL) of Universal Analytics and instead will be providing Google Analytics 4. On July 1, 2023, standard Universal Analytics properties will stop processing new hits, but Google will allow at least six months after sunset to access historical information in Universal Analytics. For more information, please read Google’s Universal Analytics EOL announcement.
CivicPlus is aware of and proactively engaged in planning and development efforts to ensure we make a smooth transition to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) ahead of the Universal Analytics service cutoff on July 1, 2023. CivicPlus will provide more information about the transition in the coming months. Until then, you may disregard any messages you receive or see from Google about this EOL, as there is no action required of you at this time.
Update as of February 2023
GA4 was implemented and started tracking basic data on August 25th, 2022. We then began to develop the other tracking events to match what was tracking in Universal Analytics.
On February 4th, 2023 we released a new feature that will be available for GA4, called Page Section Tracking. We are currently in the planning stages for granting access and creating training.
